The Loan Stranger is the sixth animated cartoon short subject in the Woody Woodpecker series. Released theatrically on October 19, 1942, the film was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures. The title is a pun on The Lone Ranger.
While Woody is voiced by Kent Rogers, his singing is recycled audio of voice actor Mel Blanc (Woody's original voice) extracted from Woody Woodpecker. The song would make a reappearance in Hot Rod Huckster, performed by Grace Stafford.
Also, beginning with this cartoon Woody's appearance has a minor change as his design is less "off-model" than in previous cartoons, which began with Ace in the Hole. Note that in this cartoon the bird didn't have his previous buck teeth.
Some available prints overdub Kent Roger's vocals with Grace Stafford's Woody voice.
